Experience Restaurant
The existing Is it What experience ?
Stakeholder
: Restaurant Dining Experience ( Lecture Exercise )
In this post, I will discuss the restaurant dining experience from a different perspective and identify both internal and external factors. Also, how to use technology to support and enrich that experience.
What is the existing experience? From different stakeholder P.O.V. and what external/internal factors impact on the experience?
Customers:
External Factors:
Parking for customers is really important because as a customer I don't want to look for a parking for an hour.
The decoration of the restaurant is a good indication of the atmosphere inside.
The temperature and humidity both inside and outside dining which really affects customers when choosing a restaurant or even leaving the place if it's really hot or humid.
Both crowd and noise play an important role for the customer when choosing to dine-in or takeaway and not only that, high level of noise will lead to unsatisfied customers.
Internal Factors:
I believe that the main reason why the customers came to the restaurant is an essential internal factor for example:
If the customer in a rush, he needs food served fast.
If the customer is planning to dine-in, he needs care and warm welcoming.
If the customer is having a special occasion, he needs special treatment and arraignment.
Waiters:
External Factors:
How customer treats them is the main factor.
How management is treating a waiter in trams to wages, time shifts and salary raise.
How other waiters interact with each other.
Internal Factors:
Emotional fluctuation is the main factor for example stress, fatigue
and family issues.
How much they like their job and what the reason behind doing it.
engagement with customers and staff.
Chiefs:
External Factors:
A number of orders coming in.
A number of chiefs working together.
Internal Factors:
How long they have been working.
Emotion.
2. What aspects of the existing experience could be enhanced/augmented/supported with technology? and how would introducing technology into this context change the experience?
Customers:
Having an App for the customer the see the ingredients of the food before ordering will be really helpful.
To introduce a new ordering system which is when waiters approach the table and customers have their ready, the system downloads all customers orders into the app which will help waiters, not to mix-up orders.
Waiters:
With the same app, waiters how to know when customers finished their plates which will help faster customer services.
Communication with other waiters in case some of the waiters wanted to short break.
Chiefs:
A system to keep inventory which is using during the day and that will give the chief which ingredient needed to the next day.
A shift planner for waiters and other staff to prevent lack of staff.
3. What experience scenarios might you test the technology?
For Customers: We will invite customers from different backgrounds to test our app in terms of search filters and high customer usage when we have fully booked night.
For Waiters: We could have customers moving plates to test the app when customers finish eating and we will test the app when we have a lack of staff.
For Chiefs: We will test the system to detect if their shortage of inventory.
